🧡 Harmony Week | 16–20 March 2025 🧡

This week, we celebrate Harmony Week — a time to recognise Australia’s rich cultural diversity and promote inclusiveness, respect, and belonging. 🌏✨

At Riverbanks College, we’re proud to reflect these values every day. Throughout the week, students will be engaging in activities that celebrate diversity and encourage conversations about kindness, belonging, and standing against racism.

Friday 20 March will be our wear it orange day where students are encouraged to wear orange or their cultural dress. Please note this is not a casual clothes day and students are to wear school uniform unless they are wearing orange or cultural dress.

Let’s come together to celebrate the strength of our diverse community — because everyone belongs! 🧡

Thats a shame it’s not kept as a route as the children who live in this little area down hatcher now have to walk 23 mins to brandis just to get on the bus

Will see lol

Not getting 6 SMS and 3 emails about this would be great.

Zoe Franklin I'm not sure if the kids get this bus?

Adelaide Metro Bus Ticket Validation Requirements

This is a reminder regarding the Adelaide Metro bus services that many of our students use. Please note that the school does not have any authority over this service.

This is not a free service, and students are required to validate their MetroCARD every time they board the bus.

We have been advised by Adelaide Metro that currently only around 10% of students are validating their cards. We have been informed that, starting this week, inspectors will be monitoring services and conducting checks. Students who are unable to provide proof
of validation may receive on-the-spot fines of up to $160.

We strongly encourage families to ensure their child has a MetroCARD and understands the importance of validating it each time they travel.

Student 28-day passes are currently $10 for 28 days. If a student is travelling to and from school each day, this equates to approximately 25 cents per trip.

It is also important that we support our students to be respectful, responsible and positive citizens who understand and follow the rules and laws that apply to us all.

Thank you for your support in reinforcing this expectation with your child.

Just remember not validating to board a service can result in change of timetables leaving students with less bus options Tapping your card, metro can see if more services are required for school and work runs... so the bigger picture, if you want to keep active services that align with public and student needs... tap the card ... esp as students get $10 month pass....

Paul Gartner making waves 😳😂

What happened to students travelling free to and from school?

There is not just kids that dont validating on buses

Remember validations are how the government obtain usage statistics. It’s the same reason that seniors need to tap on with their seniors card. If the service looks like it isn’t being utilised the government will cease it - just like NSW did last year with some school routes.

It's just not kids not validating metro cards. I see heaps of parents, walking past the machine

It was there between the start of 1990 and 1992,then it disappeared.I was in Year 7 and 8 when this existed. It did make life a lot easier on parents especially those of us who had work on the other end of town in relation to the kids schools.I remembered the first time I was caught off guard Year 9 1992 getting from Goodwood to Salisbury in February thinking it was free when I had to buy a ticket in town between trains.

I wish bus drivers were strict with fare evaders. I see the same people on my bus route never taping. When the bus is approaching the bus stop they are at. I yell out to the bus drivers, "Don't let them on! They are fare evaders!" But bus drivers let them on. The fare evaders always make the same excuse, "I lost my card. I got a replacement coming in the mail." Sometimes fare evaders will pretend to be looking in their bag for 20min for their metro card. Then get off the bus at their planned stop. I hate it. I have been seeing these fare evaders for over 12 years.

This is BS! Why isn't a text sent to parents? Not everyone sits on Facebook 24/7. I dropped the kids off, then had to turn around to go back and get them, but I still could drive all the way from Fradd down Andrews Road to Riverbanks with no roadworks. This is an absolute joke. Working parents don’t have time for this.

Is this why my son was never picked up on Valiant Road this morning? Because the whole route has been changed? The Adelaide Metro website doesn't say anything about this.

Could anyone confirm if the kids are getting picked up according to this update or the metro site Im having a hard enough trouble getting my daughter to school on the bus. Yet alone all this detours I. Am. Struggling! 😭😭😭

Is the car park going to be open for Monday?

This year I found numerous cars parking in the disability spots with no sign of passes .I had a young mother park in the disability spot and I questioned her and she blatantly told me to F off ill park where I want to. No pass visable

Not sure why this work couldn't have been completed over the break.

You need to make more car parks as. The year 12, and soon the year 11 will be bringing there cars to soon. So you better be thinking about this soon. As you are going to have parents complaining about not a lot of parks to pick up their child or children.

When I drove past today, I cant see how the roadworks done will help with the bus service. Looks like the footpath was widened . Will the buses be parked on the dirt?

Is the sizing going to be correct this time for the polo’s, as the one that came in the order is at least 3x bigger than what she tried on.

There is nothing on this link related too the year 12 commemorative tops

Is there a link to order year 6 shirts/jumper
