Riverbanks College B-12 > Vocational Education Training

Vocational Education Training

Vocational Education and Training (VET) provides students with practical skills and knowledge tailored to specific industries. It bridges the gap between school and the workforce, offering hands-on experience and a direct pathway to employment or further education.

At Riverbanks College, we proudly host a Certificate II in Cookery, providing students with foundational culinary skills. Additionally, a wide range of other VET courses are available across the northern areas of Adelaide, catering to diverse interests and career aspirations.

Participating in VET courses allows students to earn credits towards their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE). This integration ensures that students can pursue vocational training while completing their secondary education, providing a balanced and comprehensive learning experience.

These courses include:

  • Automotive
  • Animal Care
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Plumbing
  • Construction
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Individual Support
  • Electotechnology
  • Engineering
  • Hair and Beauty
  • Retail
  • Salon Assistant
  • Community Services
  • Health Services
  • Bakery
  • Screen and Media

VET equips students with industry-relevant skills, enhancing their employability and preparing them for future careers. Through practical training and real-world applications, students gain valuable insights and experience that can set them apart in the job market.

We are proud to have 78 of our current Year 11 students actively participating in a variety of these courses, gaining valuable skills and experiences that will benefit them in their future careers.

Year 10 and 11 students will hear more about these exciting opportunities through ‘Hear from the Trainer’ sessions held online at Riverbanks College in Week 3, Term 2. Students will then have the chance to apply and participate in various immersion days towards the end of Term 2 and throughout Term 3. Additionally, students can complete their White Card at a discounted price around this time.
