Sports at Riverbanks College

The Sport Program at Riverbanks College B-12 reflects our commitment to providing opportunities for all students and is designed to encourage participation, skill development, team building and contribute to the creation of life-long healthy habits.

It creates and opportunity for all students and staff to get involved in the school’s culture and values of belonging, grit, collaboration, and kindness.

We promote collaboration and inclusivity and aim to develop a sense of belonging and pride by connecting students with one of our six river teams.

Gawler River – Orange
Light River – Yellow
Murray River – Purple
Para River – Red
Sturt River – Blue
Torrens River – Green

In term 1, senior students of the primary and secondary years write an application and go through a selection process to be team captains.

Captains are responsible for organising and supporting various events, being a part of the student leadership committees and supporting their team throughout the year by promoting positive sportsmanship and wellbeing.

For key sports event check the sports calendar.

Participation

At Riverbanks College we cater for all skill levels in order to actively encourage engagement and participation in a social and welcoming environment. In addition to a range of health and wellbeing benefits, participating in sports offers students the ability to expand their social group, connect with others and be part of a team and acquire and develop skills that can be applied to future endeavours. How students conduct themselves at school has a baring on selection for school teams. Our school values are at the forefront of everything we do at Riverbanks College, and we want to ensure all students representing the school are good role models.
